Having the Courage to Be You

As long as you are true to yourself and not hurting anyone else, you should live life in truth and take pride in who you are.  Not too many years ago, black people were considered property, interracial couples couldn't marry, and women weren't allowed to vote.  The ideas and realities are now antiques.  We have come a long way, but we still have a long way to go!  It is our job to teach ignorant people.  Ignorance breeds fear, hate and contempt.  This world will change; that is the only thing we know for a fact.

You have no idea where life can take you if you are willing to let it!  Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride.  It's your life and you only get one chance...unless you are a cat!

Be True to You!

The Courage to Be Me

It is said that "the truth will set you free," but only if you let it... One must be willing to make a journey of self-discovery, which at times can seem like a long and overwhelming process.  The process itself may be joyful at times, but will also be painful at times.  It is a process nonetheless.  We all continue to grow and change throughout our lives.  Our lives take on new breadth and dimension as we grow.  At times it may be difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

We think we know ourselves and those around us, but as life goes on, we change.  Sometimes we grow in the same direction and come together, and sometimes we grow in different directions and grow further apart.  You can only be true to yourself.  Your responsibility to yourself is to have the courage and the tenacity to be true to you.  Life is a constant journey of self-discovery.  You cannot base your truth on what others may think of you or how you may be perceived by your friends or by society.   To be truly fulfilled, you must embrace who you really are.  You must be true to yourself to be happy and you must love yourself before you can truly love anyone else.

Throughout your journey, you may realize that you didn't have much insight as to who you really were.  It is difficult and frightening to look within and be true to yourself.  Many of us go though life not thinking about who we are or how we fit into society.
These people live day to day, not thinking about what they want from their lives.  Do not be that person!  Have the courage to look within and embrace who you are!
